We have developed an optical pedobarograph for quantitative measurements of the foot pressure. A plexiglas walkway is covered with a rubber pad of special surface texture. Fixed under the walkway, a video recorder images the footprints made on the Plexiglas surface and transfers them to a rubber and its texture to gain linear dependency of image intensity to the applied pressure up to 3 kg/cm^2. Because this optical pedobarograph offers flexibility, low cost, and ease of use, it is ideal for clinical applications.
