The kinematic variables of a 4 techniques
of karate (including Maei Geri, Zenkutsu Dachi, Zoki, combined technique
of Zoki and Zenkotsu Dachi) were studied and compared in two groups of
top-expert and practiced karate kas. The subjects included 9 members of
the national team and 7 karate kas with at least 6 years of experience.
The measurement was conducted using stereo-videography and the 3-D
coordinates of the reflective markers attached to the anatomical
landmarks were traced during motion. The statistical analysis was
performed using independent sample T-test for comparing groups mean and
pair sample t-test for inter group comparison. Results indicated well
observation of some details of the motion pattern by top-expert group.
Also, comparison of the standard deviations of the variables between the
two groups revealed that the motion has been conducted with a higher
degree of similarity within the top-expert group.
